It’s always time to become a Cloud Mage

“When I was 12 years old, I got it into my head that I wanted to create a system like the video store that was near my house. I saw what software they used, found the magazine on a newsstand that taught how to build their systems in that software, and spent about 10 days having fun with it. I think it was at that moment that the seed of TI was planted.” — Marilia Brito

Marilia Brito’s speech reflects how her destiny in the IT career has always been traced, even if for a while she decided to follow a different career. The Cloud Mage of the time has always been interested in topics related to technology. A year after the excerpt quoted above, Marília started to learn html and customize the layout of blogs for her friends, applying what she learned on her own through reading tutorials, “which were quite scarce in 2002”, she recalls.

But, when choosing a course at university, he opted for graphic design, where he made a career for about eight years. However, that still wasn’t what she wanted. In 2011, she opened an online store, but she always missed more layout options on the platforms. It was this annoyance that made her go back to studying html and css to customize the platform. She liked it so much that she decided to learn javascript, python, java, and finally enrolled in the Information System faculty.

However, starting his career in the field was not very simple, as he joined the course at the age of 30. Marilia put a lot of effort into all her projects, always willing to learn more and more, and this caught the attention of the course coordinators, who offered an internship to work in the college’s IT team. During this time, she applied for an internship at AWS, where she was selected to work in the area of ​​solution architecture. Over the next five months, she fully immersed herself in the AWS cloud and ran some internal projects. Later, she went on to work as a public sector architect, serving different education startups, NGOs, hospitals and GovTechs.

A little over a year ago, Marilia embraced the opportunity to be part of the AWS Instructor team. For her, this was another way of being able to explain how things work and share her knowledge in a simple way for the listener, facilitating the understanding of a certain subject, something she always liked to do.

How to become a Cloud Mage?

Marilia’s first advice is to start your journey through Cloud Practitioner Essentials to build the foundations. If you already have prior knowledge, you can take an associate -level course , such as Architecting on AWS , in addition to carefully reading the documentation to answer specific questions and be able to enjoy the AWS cloud more and more.

Marília also reinforces the importance of always being learning in the area, after all, new things emerge every day. In addition, when it comes to the cloud, there is a growing demand in the market for professionals with this knowledge, given that more and more companies are migrating their workloads.
